Booneville Mississippi Flash / The Time Is Now

Hayden Thompson, born in Booneville, Mississippi, in 1938, is one of the original rockabilly cats who recorded for the legendary Sun Records label in the 1950’s. The revival of the rockabilly genre brought him back to the roots of his style, and since 1984 he has toured Europe and Japan as well as performed in the U.S.A. His latest two albums, Hayden Thompson (2007) and Standing Tall (2010), both released on the Finnish label Bluelight, are considered among his best recorded work.
 
Bluelight Records is at it again. This time they have a real treat for all Hayden Thompson fans and friends: a compilation CD of two albums will be released on January 29th 2016. In addition to the double feature there are six bonus tracks, four of them previously unreleased.
 
First of the albums, Booneville Mississippi Flash, was carried out by Dave Travis, one of the top UK rockabilly producers, and released on Charly Records in 1985. The second one, The Time Is Now features top picker Albert Lee on lead guitar and it was recorded for Swedish Sunjay Records in 1990. The six bonus tracks consist of a 7” single The Boy From Tupelo as well as the tracks of a previously unreleased recording session with Wildfire Willie & The Ramblers, recorded in Sweden in 1995.
