Rhythm & Blues Goes Rock & Roll Volume Three - Dance Girl Dance - Atomicat (ACCD103) is the third album in the series containing twenty-eight songs, and ends like Rock 'n' Roll evenings of the past, with a love song. The music is sourced from the golden years of 1953 through to 1962, from labels large and small.
The album is stuffed full of American and Australian Rockers, and it is noticeable that crooners and country music performers needed to make some coin and jumped onto the Rock 'n' Roll bandwagon, often using a made-up identity. Many artists in the series are too many are mostly unknown, but not they are not lacking in star quality and the songs have danceability! Some titles had a pre-1950s history or were issued initially on independent labels, and Jukeboxes were often filled from labels that mainly covered hit recordings. Many of these cover songs had no writing credits or conflicting authorship, and the information on the album is taken from the source 45 RPM. The album will take where possible will credit the first American issue of a song. Below the used song the R&B versions information will be displayed, and should there be differing authorship or title, this will be indicated within the text.
Texan Eddie Dugosh switched from country music to the big beat and then delved into the blues back cataloged he provides the blistering opening song which is a cover of Tiny Kennedy/ Elmore James’s classic Strange Kinda Feeling. Along the rough and rowdy path, you will encounter, Andy Doll Band, Hey Ba Ba Re Bop, Jerry Duane, Rip It Up, Danny Lanham, A Lover's Question, Feelin' Joyous, Go On Fool, and Lawrence Shaul and The Aristocats, who transform the Georgia Peaches classic Tutti Frutti into a raw and primitive bop track.
The international hitmakers who dipped into the R&B repertoire include, Gene Vincent and His Bluecaps, Jump Back, Honey, Jump Back, Johnny Preston, Feel So Fine, and Jerry Lee Lewis and His Pumping Piano, with his solo version of Save the Last Dance For Me. The other ladies adding refinement to the album are Shirley Jean Wiley, Long Tall Sally, and Frances Faye, It's You I Love. The featured Australian rocker is Ernie Sigley with The Big Beat. Bringing the album to fruition with smooth vocal dexterity is, Joe Perkins with his version of the Smiley Lewis hit One Night.
The album is compiled and annotated by Dee Jay Mark Armstrong, the concept is brought visually to life by design artist Gito Lima, and the recordings are remastered at The Studio That Time Forgot, El Paso Texas.
